Why I Designed the Watch Me Super Flares: The PHURAL Story

PHURAL Watch Me Super Flares in Black Card, handmade to order in Orange County, California

THE FOUNDER'S EDIT  |  THE PHURAL JOURNAL

I never set out to start a clothing company. I set out to find a pair of flares I actually wanted to wear.

For years, I searched for high-compression super flares with the silhouette I wanted: a flattering fit, a foldover waistband, and a dramatic flare with real presence. I could picture the pants perfectly. Finding them was another story.

Eventually, I stopped looking and designed what would become the Watch Me Super Flares. Not for a collection. Not for a launch. For myself.

And then I wore them.

That was when the thought hit me: I cannot be the only person looking for these. What began as a personal solution revealed something bigger—a gap between the clothes I wanted to live in and what I could actually buy. PHURAL grew from that realization.

Good enough to sell? First, it had to be good enough for me.

The fit mattered. The finish mattered. But the fabric was nonnegotiable.

I tested it for more than a year before I felt comfortable building a brand around it. I wanted to know what happened after repeated wear, well beyond that first beautiful try-on. After all that testing, the fabric still looked brand new to me.

That is my standard for PHURAL: premium-quality fabrics selected with longevity in mind, thoughtful construction, and pieces designed to become the ones you keep reaching for. Fashion should earn its place in your closet—not simply occupy it for a season.

Yes, choosing a beautifully made piece can cost more at the beginning. But I think about the price differently: how often will I wear it, how well will it serve me, and how soon will I feel the need to replace it? Buying fewer pieces you genuinely love can be a better value than repeatedly buying things that never quite deliver.

It started with Watch Me. It became a wardrobe.

The Watch Me Super Flares are where it all began. Designed to contour the body's natural curves, the Watch Me Super Flares combine premium high-compression nylon-spandex with a sculpted fit, a dramatic wide flare, and a tall waistband that can be worn up or folded over. Each pair is cut, sewn, and hemmed to the inseam you select. The length is not an afterthought. It is part of the design.

From there, I started thinking about the other pieces I wished worked just as hard in a wardrobe.

The Board Meeting Blazer brings structure to the story: a sculpted waist, defined shoulders, a stand collar, and distinctive button details. Choose your sleeve length, then wear it with flares for a polished look that moves easily from an afternoon meeting to an evening out.

The Please, I’m Above This Turtleneck is the quieter kind of statement. Soft, fitted nylon-spandex and a neckline that can be worn high or folded make it an effortless layer beneath the blazer—or a complete look with the flares on its own.

These pieces were designed to work together, not because a trend report said they should, but because a considered wardrobe makes getting dressed feel easier.

Made to order in Orange County, California

PHURAL is not about churning out more clothes. Our garments are cut and sewn to order in Orange County, California, USA, with choices such as inseam or sleeve length built into the ordering process for the styles that offer them.

That is what made-to-order women's clothing means to me: slowing down enough to consider the person who will actually wear it. It is an approach rooted in intention, personal fit, and a belief that beautiful clothes deserve real thought.

For the closet you want to keep

I did not begin with a business plan. I began with years of searching, the Watch Me Super Flares I finally designed for myself, and a fabric that had to pass my own test before I would put my name behind it.

Now I am building the collection I always wanted to find, one piece at a time. The line will keep expanding, but the reason behind it will stay the same.

Clothes worth choosing. Clothes worth wearing. Clothes worth keeping.
